PRESS RELEASE
JUNE 2009 NEWS LETTER
The first half of the this year has gone , can anybody tell me where it went ? , it has flown , but then again I may have been busy , but I think we all are these days .
Thank you all for buying my first CD/DVD “Music Memories and Madness” it has been very successful , so much so that a new CD / DVD will be released in September .
The CD features a duet with one of Australia’s most prolific songwriters and singers Greg Champion , (website www.gregchampion.com.au ) a song he wrote called “Bit a dirt never hurt” , it is a beauty and I know you will enjoy listening to it . I was very honored when I asked Greg if he would like to do the song with me , we had a fantastic day in the recording studio , together with my producer Micheal Cristian , I have always enjoyed Greg’s sense of humour and songs .
There are 12 songs on the new CD such as “Walk in the Room” , “Kiss an Angel Good Morning” , “My Best Friend” , “I wanna dance with you” and a country rock version of the classic “Rocking all over the World” just to mention a few . Vocal Harmonies have been done by Lisa Edwards ( from the John Farnham Band) she is just wonderful and so very talented .
The DVD is a mixture of live performances from Tasmania , Victoria and Qld , songs , story telling and jokes , and it will run for 65 mins ,. It has taken me 2 attempts to get the right format ( I hope ) , it will also feature a number one country music song with a great mate , I will keep you guessing on that one ?
This year I have been to the Barham Country Music festival in Feb , it was a great night and thanks to Joyce Yates and the team it was a very successful night . Enjoyed a Country Music Weekend at St Arnaud for the Country Music Club with Craig and Roz Giles , we had plenty of laughs and even sang some songs . Went to Tasmania in May and enjoyed some wonderful hospitality with Brian and Pam Lewis who looked after me with shows at Dunalley , Huonville and Lindisfarne and then finished off with a sell out “Mothers Day” Concert at the Ulverstone Bowling Club for Molly Leary .
The end of May was time to visit Qld and thanks to Carol and Mick of Bundaberg Coaches we had a great night at the Brothers Club , did a couple of shows with Deana Peher at Redlands Sporting Club then headed back down south to do the Blue Water Country Music Festival at Port Stephens , Hexham Bowling Club , Soldiers Point Bowling Club and Karauh R S L . The festival is going becoming very popular with crowds increasing every year , plus it is a lovely spot to visit .
While traveling to Queensland on the Sunday night and listening to the “Carter Edwards Show”, (which is now networked all round the country ). someone requested ‘Pearly Shells” , and Carter not knowing the song , said where’s Rodney Vincent when I need him ? . Well I was in Gilgandra so I called him and we did an impromptu live version of Pearly Shells , and all the next week in Qld and N S W , wherever I went , everyone wanted me to sing Pearly Shells , thanks Carter !
The second half of the year will be even busier with trips to South Australia to the “Vine Inn” at Noorooipta to raise money for Cancer research , Sydney with Ben Macauley and the Raiders , they are a great band , a 5 day run doing the Murray River clubs with the 50th Anniversay of 6 O’clock Rock show starring two great legends Bryan Davies and Roland Storm ( both of whom worked with Aussie rock’n’roll king Johnny O’Keefe , wonderful memories there and lots of stories to tell ) and of course me , “the apprentice” , as Roland calls me , that’s in August , singing all the songs we still know the words to , it will be a lot of fun , don’t miss that one , Mildura Country Music Festival is in Sept / Oct and as always that will big , ( web site www.milduracountrymusic.com.au ) and then followed by a tour with a great mate Peter Horan ( website www.peterhoran.com.au ) and as you all know when him and I get together anything can happen and it probably will which reminds me “Hartwood” next year I will be there ( website www.paulmccloud.com.au ) , Qld is again on the agenda Oct / Nov with shows all over and then Santa Claus will not be far away and time to sing a few Christmas Carols .
I will be sending letters and emails out to my mailing list when the new CD / DVD is released so save your pennies , look forward to catching up with you at a show somewhere , and remember “You don’t stop laughing cos you grow old , you grow old becos you stop laughing”
Regards
Rodney Vincent
